GUEST SPEAKER:  Howard Root
Howard Root is the recently retired Chief Executive Officer of Vascular Solutions, Inc., a company he founded in 1997 to develop a physician’s idea into a commercial medical device. Howard led Vascular Solutions continuously for 20 years, through its IPO in 2000 and growth into a 100-product worldwide medical device business with over 650 employees. Howard is listed on 21 of Vascular Solutions’ U.S. patents and is the inventor of the company’s top-selling GuideLiner catheter. In February 2017, Howard sold Vascular Solutions to Teleflex Medical for $1 billion. The motivation behind the company’s sale and Howard’s voluntary early retirement at age 56 is a true-life legal nightmare that is detailed in Howard’s new book: Cardiac Arrest: Five Heart-Stopping Years as a CEO on the Feds’ Hit-List.
