Second Press Operator
The John Roberts Company is looking for a Second Press Operator to assist the lead operator to operate a 6 color Heidelberg printing press. Job duties include assisting with setup and make-ready of the printing press and other equipment, programming correct color standards, inspecting printed materials for quality and other routine adjustments during the pressrun.
Previous sheetfed experience is REQUIRED. Candidates must be able to read and understand a job ticket, layout sheet, artwork and other specifications.
- Load and feed paper into the press.
- Obtain or mix inks and fill ink fountains.
- Secure printing plates to printing units and adjust tolerances.
- Start presses and pull proofs to check for ink coverage and density, alignment, and registration.
- Clean ink fountains, plates, or printing unit cylinders when press runs are completed.
- Clean and perform routine maintenance and have the ability to make minor repairs.
- Collect and inspect random samples during print runs to identify any necessary adjustments.
- Change press plates, blankets, or cylinders, as required.
Education & Qualifications
- Prior experience in a sheetfed role
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Attention to detail
- Understands color and can pass a color test
- Have the ability to stand/walk for 8 hours
