This position is responsible for all housekeeping, general maintenance and repairs required within an assigned area to ensure clean, safe, healthful conditions in all spaces of the assigned area at all times. This position is also required to assist in safety, security and operations of the college.
The hours for this position are Tuesday - Saturday 6:00 am - 2:30 pm.
Minimum & Preferred Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of:
English sufficient to perform the required duties described above, using reading, writing and verbal skills.
Different types of flooring/floor covering sufficient to determine proper methods of maintenance and appropriate cleaning methods, materials, agents and equipment.
Chemical cleaning agents such as soaps sufficient to appropriately select the agents(s), handle and apply and dispose of safely.
Methods, tools and equipment used in maintenance sufficient to use effectively and operate safely and to make minor repairs. Ability to:
Physical health and endurance sufficient to perform work functions.
Follow simple oral and written instructions.
Perform assigned tasks with limited work direction.
Keep simple records.
Ability to safely operate and maintain tractors and other ground maintenance equipment.
Be able to climb and work from ladders and high lift.
Be able to perform repetitive motion with vacuum cleaners, wet and dry mops, and other equipment and tools on a regular basis.
Able to work overhead without restrictions.
Ability to think and act quickly in the event of an emergency.
Ability to work in a variety of adverse weather conditions.
The employee should demonstrate knowledge of and interest in diverse cultures and populations.
Have a basic understanding to navigate online web browsers, email and Microsoft Office computer programs.
Expected to lift up to 100 pounds (with assistance) on an irregular basis and 20-50 pounds on a regular basis. This job also may require walking or standing to a significant degree on rough terrain or may involve sitting most of the time with pushing and pulling of arm and/or leg controls. This job will require strenuous manual labor including but not limited to digging, shoveling, hauling, crawling, bending, pushing, pulling and climbing.
