Deep cleaning your carpets for appearance is necessary in our part of the world, as winter salt and early spring dirt take their toll. But what you might not know is carpeting should always be cleaned first for health, then for appearance!
Air quality, workplace illnesses and environmental allergies are all directly related to poor maintenance of carpeted facilities, as stated by the EPA.
Carpet can hold as much as four times its weight in dirt, and acts as a giant air filter trapping all types of particulates, allergens and volatile organic compounds. These contaminants and microscopic particles combine to create what the EPA reports to be one of the top five most serious environmental problems affecting the health of humans in America – Indoor Air Pollution.
Poor indoor air quality can result in serious health issues and increased worker’s compensation claims, or costly loss of productivity. Some estimates state that employees spend 90% of their time indoors. According to EPA studies of human exposure to air pollutants (EPA Indoor Air Quality Home Page), indoor air may have one to two hundred times more pollutants than found in outside air.
With this in mind, it is recommended that carpet be deep cleaned at least twice a year - once in the spring and again in the fall. Not only will staff and employees benefit from a cleaner environment, but the life of the carpet will be extended due to the removal of the debris that breaks down the fibers of the carpet. **Millennium Management Services can machine scrub your ceramic tile flooring. We will clean the tiles and grout lines of the ceramic flooring in your restrooms, entries and any other areas.
**We also can provide a strip and refinish of your VCT and vinyl floors. VCT and vinyl flooring need to have a protective coat of finish to keep them from deteriorating and becoming damaged.
